Natty Dresser

Your kid might not toddle down the runway anytime soon, but a splash of fashion (and a tee minus spit-up) wouldnŐt hurt. Nat and Helens, an online-only company based in Lakeview, offers up goods from a gaggle of independent, hard-to-find (and yes, natty) designers, who make baby clothes from strictly organic materials. From teensy tees with social messages (we like the "Stop Wars" one in Star Wars font) to Japanese-print onesies and jumpers, Nat and Helens opts for stylish, eco-conscious alternatives such as cotton grown sans carcinogens like acephate - typically used on nonorganic fields. Fashion week, maybe notÉbut hot play date? Done.

You know what they say about cotton: "the fabric of our lives" and all that. But did you know that it takes about a third of a pound of chemicals to grow enough cotton to make a T-shirt? Probably not stuff we want in our lives (or those of our kids).

Lest you dismiss us as a bunch of Debbie Downers, we've got a solution: Check out Nat & Helens, a new site offering a well-edited assortment of stylish, organic children's clothes, bedding and toys from some of the best eco-friendly designers. In addition to being chem-free, all of the products are manufactured in the United States or sweat-shop free environments around the world.

Nat & Helen's Organic Boutique

I have added a new organic boutique for babies and children to my "covet" folder, thanks to a tip from a good friend. At Nat & Helens, the philosophy is simple. They strive to offer high quality, high style goods that everyone can feel good about. To that end, Nat & Helens only buys organic or sustainable products made in the United States or in fair trade factories around the world. Plus, to give back to the community, a portion of Nat & Helens' yearly profits go to charities supporting children and the environment.
